[MASTER] Therapist Booking Form
SPECIALISING IN ADULT’S MENTAL HEALTH AND BABY LOSS/STILLBIRTH

Hello, my name is Annette.

I am a qualified counsellor working with adults of any age or gender. My approach is person-centred and integrative, meaning I tailor therapy to meet your unique needs in a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space. People describe me as “kind, patient, caring, empathic and friendly” all of which are vital to building a therapeutic relationship. Feeling comfortable with your counsellor is crucial for therapy to work. I offer a culturally sensitive and LGBTQIA+ affirming space where all aspects of your identity are respected and welcomed.

Do you struggle with extremes of mood, poor sleep, flashbacks, anxiety? Are your relationships suffering or do you find it difficult to relate to other people? When you are experiencing difficulties, it can feel like everyone else is happier/more capable than you. Feeling like no-one understands you can be very isolating, and it is sometimes tempting to withdraw from people. Through sharing your issues and working with a trusted professional, you will be able to reduce your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

Sometimes anxiety is always there bubbling way in the background. This may be Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I have person experience of living with this; therefore, you can be assured of an informed, empathic approach. The right therapy will support you in improving coping skills alongside improving self-awareness and the ability to relax. It can feel easier to ‘avoid’ situations that trigger anxiety, but this is not a long-term solution. By identifying anxious thoughts and the way in which you body responds to them, we can start to work on these to find more peace and resilience.

I will help you to meet your goals through the work we do together. When you feel calmer, sleep better and feel less anxious you will be able to make better decisions about what you want your life to look like. Through exploring your emotions and behaviour, you can manage your existing relationships and navigate new ones with more confidence. Negative experiences in life can really knock your confidence and affect the way you feel about yourself. Together, we can work on improving your self-esteem enabling you to feel more confident.

My work is deeply informed by my own lived experience of stillbirth, PTSD, and trauma. This personal journey is what drives my commitment to supporting others through some of the most painful and isolating moments of their lives. Often, we are unable to share grief due to a variety of reasons causing us to become “stuck”. Through research and training, I understand how grief can become complicated and the different ways in which it can manifest. Feeling like you can’t talk about the person/child you have lost for fear of ‘upsetting’ others, can prevent healing, and negatively affect your mental health and wellbeing. Working through grief is a very individual experience and I will be right here to support you.

Through our work together in therapy, you will be empowered to change what is holding you back from living the life you choose for yourself. I have had the privilege of working with many people that have been ‘stuck’ in their difficulties. I will share with you the ‘tools’ from various approaches that will enable you to keep going forward with confidence and knowledge.

How we work together:

Be assured I will greet you with a friendly smile. I know how scary it can feel accessing counselling for the first time. On our first session together, we will gently explore the issues that you are experiencing and the outcomes you wish to achieve. The sessions will be led by you and at your own pace. I am here to walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and care as you move towards healing and greater emotional wellbeing. We will regularly review your progress and adapt therapy as needed.

Being a recent counselling graduate, I have had access to the most update training and research. I have a long background in family support and children’s care, learning and development, supporting and guiding young children and their families in their daily lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my page. I look forward to meeting you and working with you soon!
