Brainspotting is a powerful, focused therapy that helps you access and release the emotional. pain, trauma, and tension stored deep within the body and brain. It is based on the understanding that where you look affects how you feel – and that eye position can help locate, process, and heal experiences that talking alone can’t always reach.
Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting is particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation. It works with both the mind and body to unlock the places where distress, fear, or emotional overwhelm have been held, helping you to move from survival mode into calm and connection.
Understanding What’s Happening
\when something painful or frightening happens, the brain may not fully process the experience. Instead, it can become “stuck” – held in the body as tension, emotion, or sensation. This can lead to ongoing anxiety, triggers, flashbacks, or a sense of being on edge, even when you’re safe.
Brainspotting helps to locate these “stuck” spots – known as brainspots – through your eye position. As we identify a brainspot linked to an emotional or physical experience, your body naturally begins to process and release what it has been holding.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting works on a deep, neurobiological level. You don’t have to find the perfect words or explain everything that’s happened – your brain and body already know what it needs to heal.
Working Together to Heal
A Brainspotting session is calm, gentle, and client-led. Together, we’ll identify what you’d like to work on and find the eye position connected to your body’s response – your brainspot. You might notice subtle changes in breathing, tension, or emotion as your system begins to process.
You’ll be guided to focus on what you’re feeling, while I hold a steady, attuned presence – helping your nervous system stay grounded and safe as it does it’s work. The goal isn’t to force anything, but to allow your body and brain to release what they’ve been carrying, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Brainspotting can help with:
Many people describe the process as deeply calming, powerful, and transformative – a way of healing that feels both gentle and profound.
There is Hope
Your brain and body already hold the wisdom to heal – they just need the right conditions to do so. Brainspotting helps create that environment; a space of calm, safety, and trust where deep processing can take place.
Over time, people often notice that situations or memories that once felt overwhelming begin to lose their charge. They feel lighter, more present, and more connected to themselves.
You don’t have to relive your trauma to release it. With Brainspotting, helping can happen from the inside out – quietly, safely, and in your own time.
There is hope. You can feel whole again.
