Meet Zoe
Hello and welcome
I am Zoe, I believe reaching out for support is one of the hardest things to do but is often one of the most life changing and rewarding things you will ever do. Life can feel overwhelming at times and having someone impartial and external to your situation to offload and share your experiences with can be invaluable. I can offer you a calm non judgemental space where a trusting empathic, genuine therapeutic relationship can develop in which way we can work together to support and empower you in your life moving forward.
An area I am passionate about working with is anxiety, panic attacks, and generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) having suffered myself. I truly understand how feeling anxious can take over your life and inner peace, and how debilitating panic attack themselves can be. Anxiety can take many forms, disrupt your daily routines, relationships and sleep and it may feel that no one truly understands the impact on you and that you should just ‘stop worrying’. Together, we can get to know your triggers in a safe space, whether that be due to a situation, bodily sensations, intrusive thoughts or beliefs. Once we understand what anxiety is and how anxiety is actually your bodies way of protecting you, we can actually work to befriend your anxiety and retrain your brain to change how it responds to these perceived threats.
You can heal from anxiety and with the right support, learn the coping skills to enable you to go on and live a peaceful and fulfilling life. I’d love to help you with this, how I once was!
Another area of specialised interest is in working with adults that are navigating periods of change in their lives. This could be relationship changes or general life changes which might have brought up feelings of anxiety or uncertainty or a lack of confidence. You may be finding it hard to find your way in life, or navigating a hard divorce, we can work together to find a way forward and get your spark back! My approach with each individual is different, but with every client I can help to challenge those automatic responses/reactions you might have caught yourself having, helping us to break that negative and unhelpful cycle of thinking.
I also have experience and a keen interest in working with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, behavioural issues, self-harm, family breakdown and anger issues.
How we work together:
Having had therapy myself I can empathise with how nerve wracking the thought of counselling can be. But rest assured I value myself to be patient, caring, friendly and a trustworthy sounding board for you to get to know. I help clients explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours so they can develop a better understanding of themselves and others. I will not give my opinion or advice. I hope to help clients find their own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in their life or finding better ways of dealing with emotional issues and providing coping strategies where appropriate. Sessions are completely led by you and are at your own pace, once we have explored the issues at hand we can then look at ways of alleviating that anxiety, pain or stress which is holding you back from being the best version of you. What might life look like free from the issues you are having? We can work together to achieve that goal.
Thank you for considering me as your counsellor.
I have had both of my Covid vaccinations and my booster.
