Meet Rebecca

Supporting Children, Young People and Families

When your child is struggling, it can feel frightening, exhausting, and deeply unsettling – especially when you’re not sure what’s going on or how best to help. Many parents reach out feeling worried, overwhelmed, or quietly questioning whether they’ve missed something important.

I’m Rebecca, a child and young adult therapist with over 10 years experience supporting children, teenagers and young adults who are navigating trauma, emotional distress, and overwhelming life experiences. As both a therapist and a mum, I understand how heavy it can feel to worry about your child and wonder whether you’re doing the right thing.

You don’t need to have all the answers to seek support  noticing that something doesn’t feel quite right is enough.

How I Support Children and Young People

Children and young people don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Emotional distress can show up in many ways – anxiety, anger, withdrawal, changes in behaviour, sleep difficulties, school struggles, or feeling shut down.

I offer a calm, compassionate and trauma-informed space where young people can begin to make sense of what they’re experiencing, feeling understood, and gradually develop safer, more confident ways to cope.

My work is always paced gently and shaped around the individual child or young person. Building trust and emotional safety is my starting point – healing begins when a young person feels truly seen and heard.

Understanding What You’re Going Through

Watching your child struggle can be incredibly painful. Many parents tell me they feel helpless, guilty or unsure what to do next – especially after long waiting lists or unclear pathways to support.

You are not alone.

Alongside supporting your child, I also work with parents and carers, offering guidance sessions to help you understand what may be happening for your child and how best to support them at home. While therapy remains focused on your child’s wellbeing and emotional safety, parents are supported too.

I believe therapy works best when families feel informed, reassured and involved in a way that feels right for everyone.

My Approach

My work is trauma-informed, compassionate, and grounded in trust. I take time to understand your child’s world – their family life, school environment, friendships, and experiences – so that support feels relevant and meaningful.

I draw on a range of evidence-based and creative approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Therapeutic play and creative work
  • Counselling
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
  • Stabilisation and grounding techniques
  • Psychoeducation

Working together
Our work usually begins with an initial assessment, giving your child space to be heard and allowing me to understand how best to support them. From there, we agree together what ongoing support might look like.
When you’re ready, you can view my availability and book an initial assessment online. There is no obligation – this is simply the first step in understanding how I can support your child and your family.
