Meet Aelia
Integrative Counsellor for Adults
Taking the step to start therapy can feel daunting, overwhelming or even frightening. You may not know where to begin or how to put into words what you’re carrying. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come – noticing that something doesn’t feel quite right is enough.
I’m Aelia, an integrative counsellor offering a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where therapy moves at your pace and is shaped around what feels right for you. My role is to offer a safe, supportive place where you can begin gently making sense of things, without pressure.
If you’re looking for thoughtful, inclusive therapy to support anxiety, grief, low confidence or major life changes, you’re very welcome here.
How I Support You
I work with adults of all ages, particularly those navigating life transitions such as grief and loss, relationship changes, family shifts, retirement, or a sense of feeling lost or disconnected from themselves.
My approach is gentle yet grounded. I will walk alongside you as we explore what you’re feeling, why it makes sense in the context of your life, and how you can begin to cope differently. Many people come to therapy carrying long-held emotional weight that feel too heavy to carry alone. Therapy can offer a space to slowly unpack this, one piece at a time, with care and understanding.
I’ve worked with many clients facing very real, everyday struggles, and I’ve seen how powerful it can be to be truly heard.
My Therapeutic Approach
Life changes – even positive ones – can feel overwhelming. They can stir feelings of loss, loneliness, hopelessness, self-doubt or anxiety. When something feels unfamiliar, the mind can interpret this as a threat, leading to emotional overwhelm.
In therapy, we can gently explore patterns of thinking and responding that may be contributing to distress, and begin developing new ways of navigating challenges and transitions. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where you are heard, accepted and supported as we work towards greater understanding, clarity and renewed hope.
I offer a fully inclusive, affirming space and work with people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
Experience & Background
I also support individuals who are affected by the emotional impact of difficult or overwhelming experiences, past or present. Through building a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can gently explore thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels safe.
My belief in the power of therapy comes from not only my professional training, but also from personal experience. Following a sudden bereavement and other challenging life events, I engaged in my own therapy, which had a profound impact on my life. This experience shaped both my personal healing and my commitment to supporting others.
Before I trained as a counsellor, I spent many years supporting adults with learning disabilities, much of it in a voluntary capacity. This work deepened my passion for helping people understand their emotions and improve their wellbeing.
I work with integrity, compassion and care, and I see every therapeutic relationship as unique. I would be honoured to support you.
