Grey Matters Centre
All of our sessions have been held on a face-to-face basis as we have had such a high demand for contact after the Pandemic. This might be the case for most people but we understand that this can be difficult and not the best way forward for some. Like any types of therapy, online therapy is there to help people with many difficulties and presentations. Numerous studies and NHS research has shown has found online therapy to be just as effective as in person. The goals are the same, the difference is they are held via Zoom, in your own environment rather than coming to our centre in person.
We endeavour to provide a place for as many people to turn as we can, including those who cannot get into our offices so we are now taking this further and offering an online service too. We have one therapist at this current time providing this service, and she works with adults only. We are hoping to extend this further in the future to include young people and couples. Please watch this space for that!
This type of therapy will be unique to you and you will work towards making the positive changes that are achievable and at your pace. Your therapist will support you with what you bring and would like to work with. She will equip you with tools and techniques to empower you to navigate life’s ups and downs and make you more resilient long-term.
She will help you with understanding the stress effects on your body, identify early warning signs and develop plans and strategies to mange, prevent or reduce any unwanted responses.
She will work with any negative critical thoughts and help you to retrain your brain to think more positively.
She also regularly works with overwhelm and panic, whereby she will help you understand how you feel and why, then move on to provide you with the emotional skills to manage any feelings and prevent distress in the future.
WHO MAY BENEFIT FROM ONLINE THERAPY
Perhaps you would prefer online therapy because of one of the following reasons:
HOW TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE
Before you are considered we will explore what has brought you to therapy and ask you a few questions about your current mental health, your reasons for seeking therapy, what is going on for you and your goals, to see if you are a good match for our therapist.
When these questions are completed we will let you know if you have been successful in securing a place. If that has been the case, your therapist will then get in touch with you to arrange a time to contact you to book an appointment with them.
